Metropia to Sponsor Largest Hackathon in the Southwest – Hack Arizona

More than 800 student participants from universities all over the nation will rally in UA’s Science and Engineering Library this weekend (January 22nd to 24th) to “hack” various projects crafted to benefit health, sustainability, and the Tucson community. The annual event, known as Hack Arizona, is a recognized talent pipeline where university students of all technology applications and experience levels can find one another and work with mentors to complete projects they develop themselves.

The hackathon was first held last year in the Science and Engineering Library after the University and Innovate UA teamed up and arranged for it in an effort to challenge and support tech-minded students.

Metropia is excited to be a part of the annual Earth Day Festivals in Austin and Tucson, and to celebrate they're planting up to 100 trees for Tucson and Austin.

Public-Private Partnership Shares Real-Time Updates on SXSW Traffic

 

March 18th, 2015 - Austin, Texas The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority and Metropia have formed a public-private sector collaboration with the Austin Transportation Department to help Austinites and out-of-towners get around during South by Southwest (SXSW). With more than 100 people moving to the Austin region every day, traffic is already congested. During big events like SXSW it can be even worse. Metropia Launches in Tucson with Pima Association of Governments Partnership

 

March 16, 2015 - Tucson, AZ In a proactive effort to alleviate congestion in the Tucson metropolitan area and reduce impacts on air quality in the region, Pima Association of Governments (PAG) will partner with locally owned Metropia Inc. to support the local launch of Metropia’s smart app to better manage traffic and relieve peak congestion.

Research gathered by Metropia will benefit PAG’s travel reduction program to promote ridesharing. Sun Rideshare, for example, is a regional travel assistance program at PAG, the region’s metropolitan planning organization. Metropia also intends to collect travel time and speeds for PAG’s Travel Demand Model, which is used for planning future road projects, forecasting pollution levels and ensuring compliance with air quality regulations.
